It was pure domination for the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team (6-1-1) as it took down Marymount, 3-0, on Wednesday evening in Arlington, Va. The Eagles took 23 shots (11 of which were on goal) and controlled possession for just about the entirety of Wednesday's matchup as Marymount wasn't able to get off a single shot.
Emily Box recorded her first brace of her career, scoring in the 15th and 21st minute. On the first goal, it was
Katie Britton who found Box open for an assist, then on the second
Natalie Anderson recorded the assist.
On the Eagles final goal, it was
Gloria Abiassi who netted her first career score in the 40th minute after
Samantha Puterio found Abiassi open to net the third goal.
Maci Landel and
Katie Britton led the way in shots with four each. Meanwhile, Box had three shots by herself -- with a pair finding the back of the net.
Madison Bauserman,
Ellen Shine,
Taylor Garofalo, and
Skye Lawhun all took a pair of shots each, while
Cassidy Shaw,
Ariel Goldberg, Anderson, and Abiassi all took a shot each.
The Eagles led in corners, 5-0, controlling just about every facet of the match.
Kate Ronzoni recorded her first career start in net as the first year recorded her first shutout of her career.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday at Hood College. First touch is set for 5 p.m.
