The University of Mary Washington field hockey team used the strength of goals from sophomore
Anna Reed and senior
Grayson Scott, and the defense did the rest in a 2-0 victory at Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday morning. The Eagles, winners of two straight, improve to 4-3 on the season.
After a scoreless first quarter, Reed opened the scoring at 27:09 on an assist from junior
Mackenzie Proffitt. The Eagles maintained a one-score lead through halftime and the third quarter, before Scott tallied an insurance goal at 52:44, unassisted.
UMW led in shots, 20-5, and penalty corners, 6-2. Eagle junior goalie
Tori Winans made three saves in recording her second shutout in as many days.
The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday, when they visit Randolph-Macon College at 4:00 p.m.
