The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team took over 20 shots in its 1-1 draw with Methodist in Fayetteville, N.C. on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles took a lead early in the second half when
Katie Britton found
Madison Bauserman in the 51st minute as Bauserman kicked the ball into the back of the net, putting UMW up by a goal, 1-0. But in the 83rd minute, the Monarchs found the equalizer, drawing even with UMW.
And that's where the score stood when the final buzzer sounded as the Eagles had a few chances late to put Methodist away.
The Eagles took a total of 23 shots, controlling the pace of play, compared to Methodists two shots. The Eagles, too, led in corner kicks with eight total -- four in each half.
Maci Landel and
Katie Britton led the way with five shots each, while Bauserman took three and
Ellen Shine,
Cassidy Shaw, and
Emily Box each took two shots.
The Eagles (5-1-1) are back in action on Wednesday at Marymount in Arlington, Va. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
