Despite out-shooting its opponent, the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team (RV) fell to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, 2-1, in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Marlins took a 1-0 lead early in the second half in the 48th minute, but the Eagles countered on a corner just three minutes later.

Nathan Macek kicked the ball to Blake Hoskins on a short corner, as the two kicked the ball back-and-forth to each other a few times before Hoskins crossed a pass into the box that found the head of Elliot Berg, who then placed the ball into the back of the net.

With the score tied at one, the Marlins found the back of the net in the 71st minute for the game-winning goal.

UMW out-shot the Marlins by eight, 18-10, but the two teams were tied in shots-on-goal with six apiece. All eight of UMW's corners came in the second half, but Virginia Wesleyan had four total (three in the first half, one in the second).

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday for a matchup with Bridgewater at 4 p.m. on Roy Gordon Field in Fredericksburg, Va.
