Despite out-shooting Bridgewater by seven, the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team yielded three late goals in its 3-1 loss on Wednesday evening in Bridgewater, Va.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles took the lead on sophomore
Katie Britton's second goal of the season in the 51st minute as she received a pass from
Amanda Dolan, beating the Bridgewater keeper.
Twenty minutes later, however, Bridgewater tied the match in the 71st minute before taking the lead in the 84th minute of action. It then iced its victory just a minute later with its third goal of the evening.
The Eagles controlled the ball for most of both halves as it out-shot Bridgewater 6-4 in the first half, then 11-6 in the second. Bridgewater, however, produced more corner kicks, 5-1. Both squads had seven shots-on-goal each.

Emily Orn collected four total saves for UMW.
Layla Royster,
Emily Box, and
Ellen Shine led in shots for UMW with three each. Meanwhile,
Elise McGee,
Skye Lawhun, and
Maci Landel each recorded a pair of shots, and
Olivia Ewing and Britton had a shot each.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan in Virginia Beach, Va. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
