Dylan Frost scored four goals, and the stingy defense held anoher opponent to single digit scoring, as the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team defeated Montclair State University, 13-7, on Saturday afternoon in Montclair, N.J. The Eagles improve to 8-4 on the season, and run their win streak to five straight - their longest since 2014.
The Eagles continued to start with effectiveness, scoring the first seven goals of the game. Frost started the proceedings at 10:42, and senior midfielder
Ryan Adams followed at 9:58.  Reece Sone scored on a
Henry Moag assist with 5:52 remaining, and senior
Balin Galbraith upped the score to 4-0 at 5:00.Â
Junior
Dave Votapek added another on an Adams assist at 4:21, and Frost added another at 3:04 to up the lead to 6-0.Â
Keller Dillman capped the run with 1:18 left in the first, before Montclair reached the scoreboard in the final minute.
The Eagles regained a seven-goal lead at 6:33 of the second, as Frost scored on an Adams assist. Montclair posted two goals to draw to within 8-3 at halftime.
UMW allowed a score to start the third quarter, but then responded to score three straight to regain control. Stone scored on a Moag assist with 4:15 on the clock, and
Jackson Rhodes added another at 2:34.
Bryce Ridge added another at 1:19 on a pass from Moag. In the fourth, UMW used goals from
Tanner Boone and Frost to maintain its advantage.
The Eagles led in shots, 51-25, as well as ground balls, 46-34. Senior goalkeeper
Wyatt Martin made 10 saves for the Eagles, while
Keegan Shipe and Ridge each picked up fivee ground balls.
UMW will return to action on Wednesday, when the Eagles host second-ranked Salisbury University at 4:00 p.m. in a key Coastal Lacrosse Conference matchup.
