The University of Mary Washington fell to Catholic in a Tuesday doubleheader in Washington, D.C.
Game 1 - Eagles lose, 10-2.
In Game 1, the Eagles fell behind by nine by the fifth inning. But in the top of the fifth, the Eagles made a late push as
Emily Angel singled home
Carys Gohlmann to push across UMW's first run, while
Sydney Jester doubled home a run to cut into the lead, 9-2.
The Cardinals added a run in the bottom half of the inning to end the game.
Angel,
Shelby Presgrave,
Brigid Ward, and Gohlmann all got into the hit column for UMW.
Game 2 - Eagles lose, 8-1.
Mary Washington's first-year utility player
Sofia Marshall collected a pair of hits to boost her to .320 in 21 games, but it wouldn't be enough as UMW fell behind by three in the first inning.
The Eagles cut into the lead when Marshall doubled home
Shelby Presgrave in the fourth, 3-1, but Catholic scored five in the bottom of the sixth to run away with the win.
Cierra Foss recorded two outs without yielding a run, working around a base hit.
Bayly Yerigan, Presgrave, and Marshall all recorded hits for the Eagles.
Mary Washington is back in action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Messiah.
