The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-7 decision to Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday night at the U.S. Lacrosse Complex in Sparks, Md. The Eagles slip to 10-5 on the season.
The Eagles scored first, as
Sadie Laughlin scored on a
Molly Daw with 9:19 left in the first. After the Ducks scored twice to take the lead, junior
Ashley Firesheets tied the score on a Laughlin assist with 5:31 left in the first, and Laughlin stayed hot with another unassisted goal with 13:37 left in the second.
The teams traded scores throughout the second, with
Tori Mueller scoring twice and Firesheets once. The Eagles led, 6-5, at halftime. In the second half, it was all Ducks, as they scored eight straight goals into the fourth quarter. Senior
Molly Daw scored in the fourth to push the final to 14-7.
Stevens led in shots, 28-17, and draw controls, 18-7.
Allison Carolan had seven saves and
Cece Van Blenis one for the Eagles.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday at Meredith College at 3:00 p.m.
