The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team defeated Kenyon College, 14-8, on Friday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio. The Eagles improve to 9-1 on the season, and run their win streak to five.
After allowing the initial score in the game, the Eagles reeled off the next  eight goals of th game to take charge. With 11:40 left in the first,
Ashley Firesheets opened the scoring, and
Tori Mueller put UMW ahead with 4:50 left.
Taylar Hackney upped the score to 3-1 with one second remaining in the quarter.
The run continued in the second, as Firesheets started the scoring again at 14:00, and was followed with two goals each from
Molly Daw and Mueller. After Kenyon notched a pair of goals, Mueller again scored with 26 seconds left on an
Abigail Fisher assist.
The Eagles extended the lead to 12-3, thanks to a pair of goals from Fisher and another from
Anna Dube (assisted by Fisher).
Maura Schroeder and Daw scored to close the third and open the fourth.
UMW led in shots, 38-25, as well as ground balls, 18-11, and causd 15 Kenyon turnovers. UMW goalkeepers
Allison Carolan (four saves) and
Cece Van Blenis (three) combined for the win.
The Eagles will visit Denison University on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
