UMW Baseball Unable To Complete Weekend Sweep Over John Carroll on Sunday

After winning eight games in a row, the University of Mary Washington baseball team fell to John Carroll on Sunday morning, 8-1, in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Eagles fell behind by a run in the third, then six via a five run fourth inning that sealed the deal. The Blue Streaks added another in the top of the sixth to increase their lead to seven, but the Eagles struck back for their lone run of the day when Ty Lowe singled home Ryan Schwarz.

UMW committed five errors in the field, which led to eight unearned runs. Justin Ritz got the start for UMW, toughing through four innings of work while allowing four hits and four walks. Jackson Beale, Nick Jordan, Gavin Cunningham, and Andrew Poon finished the rest of the day off on the mound for the Eagles.

Mary Washington is back in action on Tuesday against Marymount in Arlington, Va. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
