In the first quarter, UMW jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Votapek at the 9:10 mark, the second from Ryan Adams with just over six-and-a-half minutes to play, and one more from Dylan Frost with just over a minute remaining in the period.

The lead then increased to five goals after Votapek found the back of the net once more at the 13:50 mark in the second period and then Tanner Boone scored at the 13:03 mark. Bridgewater countered with two goals to cut the deficit to three, 5-2, at the 7:25 mark, but Mary Washington's Tanner Boone found the back of the net once more before halftime at the 2:04 mark, increasing UMW's lead back to four, 6-2.

In the third period, Mary Washington scored twice as Henry Moag scored, then seven seconds later, Votpek added his third goal of the afternoon as UMW's lead swelled to six, 8-2.

And in the final quarter, Mary Washington scored four more times to blow the game open. After Bridgewater scored at the 14:43 mark, Tucker Bradley countered with a goal just over a minute later, then AJ Lembo, Matt DiGiacomo, and Tommy Jackson all added goals to extend UMW's lead in the final six minutes.
