First year guard Kye Robinson scored a game-high 27 points to lead the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 70-65 win at Salisbury University on Tuesday night. he Eagles improve to 11-13 on the season.

The lead switched hands eight times in the opening 12 minutes, and the score stood tied at 23-23 with 6:40 remaining in the first half. Robinson scored eight points wrapped around a Jay Randall free throw, giving the Eagles a 32-23 advantage with 3:05 left. The lead swelled to 11 before a late Sea Gull basket gave UMW a nine-point cushion at halftime, 36-27.

UMW came out fast in the second half, outscoring the hosts, 14-4, to take a 19-point lead, at 50-31. The Eagles maintained a double digit lead, and held a 68-52 advantage with 3:15 left. A late Salisbury surge drew the Gulls to within four in th waning seconds before a capping free throw from Zack Blue gave the Eagles the win.

Robinson made 8-12 field goals, including 3-6 three point tries, and 8-9 free throws in 33 minutes. He also led the squad with six assists. Blue added 11 points, while Kaden Bates scored nine and Ulysses Young and Randall each netted eight.

The Eagles shot 52.2% from the floor (24-46), making 7-15 three point shots and 15-20 free throws. Salisbury shot 43.4% (23-53), making 6-23 three point attempts and 13-14 free throws. Salisbury led, 32-22, in rebounding, and the Eagls forced 20 turnovers while committing 13.

UMW will close the regular season on Saturday against Christopher Newport University at 6:00 p.m. for senior day.
