The University of Mary Washington volleyball team scored a 3-0 victory over Randolph College on Saturday at Ron Rosner Arena on Senior Day and the regular season finale. The Eagles improve to 10-21 on the season.
After allowing the first point in the first, the Eagles reeled off eight straight points, with kills from sophomore
Sarah Starling, junior
Natalie Brown, and senior
Maura Munson. The Wildcats were able to close the gap to 13-10, but a kill and ace from Brown and another lkill from sophomore
Alice Holoubek returned the lead to 16-10, and the Eagles cruised from there to win, 25-18.
The second saw a similar start, as the Eagles grabbed a 12-4 lead to start, with three kills each from Starling and Brown. A 6-0 Eagle run gave the hosts a 19-7 advantage, en route to a 25-15 win.
The third set saw the Eagles fall behind, trailing 14-6, before a 13-3 run gave them a 19-7 lead they would not relinquish in a 25-22 come-from-behind effort.
Brown led the Eagles with 11 kills, while Starling and
Kathleen Harbaugh each had eight.
Olivia Fortier had 20 assists and Munson 13, and
Sydney Aiken posted 11 digs, with Brown adding nine digs and two aces.
The Eagles will play on Friday in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Santa Cruz, California. Final seedings will be announced on Monday.
