The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team's
Julianna Fisher netted a career-high 13 points in the Eagles' 58-45 loss to Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
Fisher went 6-for-9 from the floor, adding five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Jenna Steadman added nine for the Eagles, while
Juliona Mabie made three baskets and a pair of free throws for eight.
The Eagles fell behind by 10 in the first quarter before battling back in the second to go into the half down by eight points. In the third quarter, UMW was out-scored by eight before scoring 19 points on an 8-of-18 mark from the floor (44.4%).
For the game, UMW shot 18-of-59 from the floor that included a 3-pointer from Steadman in the fourth quarter. Shenandoah, meanwhile, was 21-of-62 from the floor (33.9%) and was just 6-for-23 from deep (26.1%). The Eagles forced 11 turnovers, coming away with five steals.
The Eagles are back in action for their home opener against Randolph on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
