Sophomore guard Kye Robinson scored a career-high 38 points to lead the 15th ranked University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 90-89 double overtime win over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon at Ron Rosner Arena. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season.

Yeshiva started strong, building a 12 point lead in the opening 12 minutes, and led by 14, at 38-24 with 3:16 left in the first half. From there, the Eagles used three pointers from Robinson and junior Kaden Bates, and baskets from those two as well as junior Jay Randall to trim the halftime deficit to four, at 40-36.

The Eagles scored six straight after allowing the opening basket to tie the score, and took their first lead at 46-44 on a Randall layup with 15:22 remaining. The lead swelled to seven, at 53-46, with 11:44 left, but the Maccabees responded with six straight to pull back to 53-52 with 9:34 remaining.

UMW's lead grew back to seven with a Robinson free throw with 4:51 left, as the two teams continued to make runs at each other. Yeshiva knotted the score at 63-63 with 2:38 on the clock, and built a six-point lead at 71-65 with 51 seconds left. Robinson connected on a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left, and the Eagles tole the inbound pass, leading to a Robinson layup with six seconds left. Once again, UMW stole the inbound pass near midcourt, and Robinson laid in the tying basket with one second left, sending the game to overtime.

The Eagles used an 8-2 run to start overtime to build a 79-73 lead with 2:39 left, but again Yeshiva responded, hitting the final basket of OT number one with a three pointer, sending the game to a second extra frame.

Trailing 84-81 with 2:49 on the clock, Randall made a layup and followed with a pair of free throws to give UMW the lead with 1:34 left. The Maccabees hit three free throws to grab a two-point lead with 1:19 remaining, but Bates connected on two of his own with 57 seconds left to again tie the score, at 87-87.

Junior Hasan Hammad made a free throw with 17 seconds left, but Yeshiva answered with a pair of free throws with 5.6 seconds left. Robinson then took the inbounding pass and went coast to coast, hitting a jumper with .8 seconds left to give the Eagles the lead, and Yeshiva missed the winning layup at the buzzer.

Robinson scored 38 points on 13-26 shooting from the floor, and made 11-13 free throws. Bates scored a career high 23 points on 9-16 shooting with three three-point baskets, and Randall scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
