Using senior
Sammy Amorose's late goal, the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team drew with Salisbury on Saturday at Roy Gordon Field in Fredericksburg, Va., 1-1.
After a scoreless first half, Salisbury led in shots, 12-7, but keeper
Tristan Kickbush was certainly busy as he recorded six saves in net.Â
Salisbury got on the board first during UMW's senior day in the 58th minute, and after 22 minutes of back-and-forth, the Eagles finally got on the board in the 80th minute when Amorose dribbled around a few defenders before nailing a shot into the back of the net to tie the game.
That's where the score stood until the final horn as UMW earned a solid result over a physical team. Kickbush recorded nine saves in net for UMW.
On the day, Salisbury led in shots, 20-14, and had 10 shots-on-goal compared to the Eagles' four. The two teams were tied with four corner kicks.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday at Christopher Newport. First touch is set for 6 p.m.
