The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night at Ron Rosner Arena. Game scores were 25-13, 25-18, 25-12; the Eagles slip to 4-14 on the season.
The Captains rolled to an early lead in the first and held that cushion throughout. In the second, the Eagles battled close throughout, but were unable to get closer than a two-point deficit on several occasions. The Captains seized the lead early in the third in the deciding game.
The Eagles were led by sophomore
Sarah Starling, who scored 11 kills in 29 attempts, and sophomore
Alice Holoubek, who added four. Senior
Maura Munson scored 11 assists, while junior
Sydney Aiken added a team-high 10 digs.
UMW will return to action on Friday night, as the Eagles visit Messiah University for a 7 p.m. tilt.
