The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 72-59 decision at Guilford College on Wednesday evening. The Eagles slip to 7-10 on the season.
The game remained tightly contested throughout the opening 20 minutes, and into the second half, as Guilford built a two-possession lead and the game remained close. In the final moments, the Quakers pulled away, scoring the final 10 points of he contest.
Sophomore
Jadon Burgess led the Eagles with 14 points on 5-11 shooting (4-10 from three point range), while sophomore
Jay Randall scored 12, going 4-9 from the floor, and first-year
Kye Robinson added 11. Randall added eight rebounds, while first-year
Ulysses Young paced the team with five assists.
The Eagles shot 21-59 from the field (35.7%), making 8-27 three-point attempts and 9-16 free throws. Guilford shot 26-50 (52%), making 8-22 three point shots and 12-18 free throws. Guilford held a 36-34 rebounding edge, while the Eagles committed just six turnovers in 40 minutes.
Mary Washington will be back in action on Monday when the Eagles visit Johns Hopkins University at 7:00 p.m.
