The University of Mary Washington field hockey team used an early score from senior

In the first quarter, Bernard scored on a penalty corner from junior
Monique Lipton, at 9:23, on her second tally of the season. The score remained 1-0 to halftime, as both teams kept the goal cage clear in the second quarter.
Scott scored 1:21 into the third quarter on a cross from the right from senior
Paige Stewart, and then tallied her fourth goal of the season with 5:30 remaining, after weaving through three defenders on a penalty corner.
UMW led in shots, 13-6, as well as penalty corners, 4-1. UMW sophomore goalie
Tori Winans recorded three saves, including one on a batted ball out of the air on a corner late, and then on the rebound.
The Eagles will be back in action next Wednesday evening, when they host the University of Lynchburg at 6:00 p.m.
