The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team took shot after shot on Saturday night with one finally coming through in the 81st minute to down Hood College on Saturday night, 1-0.
The Eagles took 34 total shots -- 16 of which were on goal -- in the victory as 25 of them came in the second half. The defense, meanwhile, didn't allow the Blazers much of a chance as it limited Hood to no shot attempts -- the second time that's happened this season.
Emily Box and
Maci Landel led the way with six shots apiece as
Ellen Shine -- who scored the match's lone goal and the first of her career -- had five shots.
Madison Bauserman and
Eliza Franklin had three apiece, while
Natalie Anderson took two of her own.
Keeper
Morgan Hicok recorded her first win of the season in the shutout victory.
UMW also led in corners (8-0), while recording 16 total shots-on-goal.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday with a matchup with St. Mary's in St. Mary's, Md. First touch is set for 6:00 p.m.
