UMW Women's Soccer Blows Out Methodist on Saturday Afternoon, 7-0

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team had no issues blowing by Methodist on Saturday afternoon in a 7-0 victory, scoring its most goals since 2022.

The Eagles got goal contributions from Reagan Boyer (twice), Madison Bauserman, Autumn Hottle, Maci Landel, Skye Lawhun, and Emily Box in the victory. On the defensive side, UMW didn't allow a single shot attempt from Methodist, controlling the ball for the majority of the game and outshooting the Monarchs, 27-0.

Mary Washington got on the board in the 14th minute off of Boyer's first goal of the season and the game as she caught a pass from Hottle and Landel to put the Eagles up, 1-0. The second Eagle goal came off of the right foot of Bauserman, who found herself alone in the top of the box, beating Methodist's goal to the back of the net in the 27th minute.

UMW took a 2-0 lead into the half, taking 13 shots and six corner kicks with it before coming out firing in the second half.

Hottle got the scoring started in the 49th minute, using a pass from Maria Walsh from the left, beating the keeper on the right side of the goal. Then in the 52nd minute, Boyer scored her second goal of the match, using a pass from Ellen Shine to get the ball into the goal, putting UMW up, 4-0.

Landel, in the 54th minute, drew a foul in the box, which led to a penalty kick. She drilled it into the left side of the net for her first goal of the season as UMW took a 5-0 lead.

Skye Lawhun scored Mary Washington's sixth goal of the afternoon -- the first of her career -- off on a header off of a corner kick from Ella Knight.

And finally, the Eagles last goal came when Box used a header off of Jazzy Imanverdi's pass in the 71st minute.

Overall, the Eagles didn't face a shot and took 27 of their own. UMW also took a total of 11 corner kicks, while holding the Monarchs to zero corners.
