Young's Career-High 21 Points Lead UMW Men Past #13 Gettysburg. 79-69

First year guard Ulysses Young poured in a career-high 21 points, and fifth year guard Zack Blue added 20 to pace four players in double figures, as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball tam defeated 13th ranked Gettysburg College, 79-69, on Sunday afternoon in Center Valley, Pa. The Eagles improve to 6-5 on the season.

UMW raced to a 13-point halftime advantage, overcoming a seven-point deficit in the opening five minutes. A three pointer from sophomore Jadon Burgess and a pair of baskets from sophomore Jay Randall knotted the score at 16-16, and the lead changed hands four times over the next five minutes. The Eagles then went on an 18-5 run to end the half and take a 45-32 lead to halftime, thanks to a 62% shootting effort in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Eagles continued to shoot well from behind the three-point arc, connecting on 9-20 in the game. UMW maintained the lead throughout the second half, with Gettysburg cutting the margin to four once midway through the half, but the Eagles extended the lead to as many as 15 in holding on for the double-digit win.

Young made 6-8 shots from the floor, including 4-6 from three point range, and 5-6 from the free throw line. Blue scored 20 points on 7-13 shooting, including 3-6 from distance, and went 3-4 from the free throw line. Randall scored 15 points on 7-14 shooting, and first year Kye Robinson was the fourth Eagle in double figures with 11. Blue led with six rebounds.
