The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team was led by guard
Megan Baxter's 15 points in its 74-43 loss to Wisconsin La-Crosse on Sunday afternoon in Guilford, N.C. Baxter went 5-of-12 from the floor (41.7%), which included a trio of treys on seven attempts (42.9%), grabbed a pair of rebounds and two steals in her effort.
Lelia Carter added nine points on 3-of-8 shooting, while
Breana Valentine had seven points on two 3-pointer's.
The Eagles fell behind by 10 points in the opening quarter, 19-9, and were unable to recover from there. They scored 13 points in both the second and third quarters and eight more in the final period.
All told, UMW shot just 15-of-53 on the day (28.3%), but of those 15 makes, six were from beyond the arc (33.3%). On defense, the Eagles were able to limit the 3-point buckets for Wisconsin-La Crosse as it was just 6-of-22 (27.3%) from beyond the arc.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday against Washington & Lee in Fredericksburg, Va. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
