The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team are winners of two consecutive games after taking down Meredith, 54-40, on Sunday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Eagles were led by Juliona Mabie's team-high 13 points and Elizabeth Barry's 10. Mabie was 6-of-10 from the field while Barry knocked down a pair of 3-pointer's.

The game started out as a defensive slugfest as the Eagles trailed by a point, 9-8, at the end of the first quarter, but got the offense going with 15 points in the second to take a 24-16 into the break.

But in the third, UMW nearly doubled its point total as it scored 22 points on a 9-of-17 clip, which included four treys. And in the fourth, the Eagles were able to hold on to notch their second victory of the season. 

On defense, Mary Washington held Meredith to just a 13-of-42 mark from the field (31%), while also only allowing a pair of 3's on 12 attempts. Meanwhile on offense, the Eagles 36% from the field, which also included seven 3-pointer's. UMW, too, controlled the boards with a 40-31 edge.

Mary Washington is back in action on Wednesday at Randolph College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
