After winning two consecutive games over the weekend, the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team wasn't able to extend its win streak to three games as it fell to Randolph College, 56-43, on Wednesday night in Lynchburg, Va.
The Eagles were led by
Juliona Mabie's career-high 17 points as the freshman center now has three consecutive games of double-digit points. Mabie went 8-of-15 from the floor, which also included a free throw, six rebounds, and a block. Along with Mabie's scoring outburst,
Megan Baxter,
McKenna Huff, and
Rileigh Weaver each contributed six points each for UMW.
The Eagles led after the first quarter, 14-11, but after being outscored by nine points in the second, Mary Washington trailed the rest of the way.
UMW shot 17-of-46 from the floor (37%), while Randolph was 23-of-56 (41.1%), but the Eagles controlled the boards with 30 compared to the Wildcats' 23.
Mary Washington forced 12 turnovers as Huff came away with a pair of steals.
Elizabeth Barry,
Breana Valentine, and Baxter each came away with a steal each.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend with a matchup at Messiah. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
