UMW Women's Soccer Records Third Consecutive Clean Sheet, Downs Marymount, 1-0

The University of Mary Washington's women's soccer team (5-3-3) recorded its third-straight clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Marymount on Senior Day in Fredericksburg, Va. on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles honored seniors Morgan Hicok, Erin Reynolds, Eliza Franklin, Ella Knight, Brianna Kenealy, Jazzy Imanverdi, and Faith Hattersley for their dedication to the women's soccer program with a ceremony pregame.

But once the ceremony and the first half of Saturday's match concluded, the Eagles were ahead in the shot count, 11-2, with three shots on net but no goals to show for their effort. UMW also took six corner kicks in the first half, but were unable to convert any chances that it had.

Just 40 seconds into the second half, though, Skye Lawhun found herself with the ball in front of the goal, wound up with her right foot, before burying the soccer ball into the back of the net for UMW's lone goal on Saturday. It was the second of the season for Lawhun, who also scored against Methodist. Emily Box, meanwhile, provided the feed to Lawhun.

For the rest of the half, the Eagles had more and more chances, but were unable to convert any of their other right shots.

Hicok recorded her third shutout of the season as Marymount took five total shots with Hicok recording a pair of saves on Saturday.

Overall, Mary Washington led in shots (20-8), shots-on-goal (8-2), and corner kicks, 12-1.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday afternoon with a matchup aaginst McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. First touch is set for 4:00 p.m.
