The University of Mary Washington baseball team ran its win streak to three straight with a doubleheader sweep of previously unbeaten McDaniel College, winning 10-6 in the opener and overcoming a 9-0 deficit to win game two, 14-10. The Eagles improve to 3-4 on the season.

The Eagles started the opener with a flourish, scoring five first inning runs. Norman Holcomb provided an RBI single with two outs, and was followed by an RBI single from Canon Davies. Chris Rubano added a two-run double, and Noah Angstadt stole home for the fifth two-out run.

McDaniel closed the gap to 5-4 with three runs in the second and one in the third, but the Eagle offense responded with a run in the third, as Christian Hague walked, stole third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Davies. 

The Eagles added three in the fourth, as Bryce Runey homered and Davies singled to score one run, and another came around on the play after an error. Jonathan Sedmak scored Lyons in the sixth to up the lead to 10-4. The Green Terror scored twice in the seventh before the Eagles gained the final outs.

Runey homered and singled and Sedmak singled and doubled for UMW. Freshman Zach Adams gained the win, allowing one earned run in five innings on seven hits, walking three and striking out two.

In game two, the Eagles dug themselves a 9-0 second inning hole before storming back for a 14-10 win. UMW scored two runs in the second on RBI singles from Hyatt Hurst and Xavier Herring. The Eagles erupted for eight runs in the fifth, as Hague notched an RBI single before a two-run triple from Holcomb, and an RBI groundout from Davies. One run scored on a wild pitch, and Hague and Runey followed with RBI hits, and Runey scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

McDaniel answered to tie the score in the sixth, but the Eagles rapped out four more runs in the bottom of the inning. Garrett Lyons drove in the eventual winning run with a two-run single, and Sedmak followed with a two-run single as well.

Runey had three singles and a double in game two, while Holcomb singled and triple, and Hague and Lyons each added a pair of singles.

Freshman Sidney Eisen gained the win with 1.1 innings of one-hit relief.

The Eagles will visit Emory University on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
