The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team used a powerful performance on Saturday to grab the lead at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational in Lancaster, Pa., after two days of events.

In the 400 individual medley, UMW's Austin Farrar finished in second place with a time of 4:04.86, and teammate Noah Carpenter took third at 4:06.94. Thomas Leckrone took fifth in the 100 yard butterfly at 52.19, and Jeffrey Leckrone followed in the 200 breaststroke with a first place finish of 2:00.47, breaking the school and meet record, and qualifying provisionally for the NCAA Championships with the top time in the nation this season. Matthew Curran took fifth in the 100 yard backstroke at 52.31, and the 800 freestyle relay of Farrar, Brian Harnish, Joshua Duke, and Kolin Hoffman finished second at 7:02.07. The 200 medley relay capped the evening in third place, as Gareth Mancini, Jeff Leckrone, Thomas Leckrone, and Garrett Ross finished at 1:34.05. Sophomore Joey Peppersack broke the American Paralympic mark in the 200 yard freestyle, breaking the existing record by nearly five seconds.

The meet will conclude on Sunday.
