Already considered as one of the top players in program history, Bruen is one of the top scorers and rebounders in the nation. What sets her apart is her team-oriented style of play, as evidenced by her high number of assists. She is a smart, talented player who can do just about anything on the basketball floor and who leads by example.
2005-06
Continued to thrive as the Eagles’ top scoring threat, as she repeated as a first team all-conference selection, and was named first team all-state, first team all-region, and Atlantic Region Player of the Year by D3hoops.com en route to honorable mention All-America honors from Russell Athletic/WBCA... Started all 31 games, averaging 12.2 points per game in only 25.9 minutes of action per contest... Grabbed 7.8 rebounds per game, also tops on the team... Finished fourth in the nation in free throw percentage, at 89.3%... Netted season-high 23 points in win over Christopher Newport University, 01/03.
2004-05
Backed up an impressive rookie season by gaining second team all-region honors from D3hoops.com, first team All-CAC, first team all-state and Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, becoming just the second sophomore in the 15-year history of the CAC to gain top honors... Literally led UMW to its best season ever, as she paced the team in scoring in 16 games, in rebounding 13 times, and in steals six times... Led team in scoring (13.6 PPG), rebounding (8.0 RPG), field goal percentage (59.2%), free throw percentage (82.8%), and assists (82)... Ranked seventh in the nation in field goal percentage, and was 34th in free throw percentage.
2003-04
The 2003-04 Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, the first player in school history to earn the award... As a freshman, led the team in scoring (12.2 PPG) and rebounding (8.0 RPG)... An amazingly consistent player, she scored double figures in 21 of 25 games, with a career high of 23 points in the CAC Quarterfinals against Goucher College... Also grabbed 10 rebounds in that contest, one of seven double-doubles she recorded during the season... Led the CAC in field goal percentage, at 55.4%.
