Biography

2006: Batted .357 while starting all 36 games, with 12 doubles, three home runs, and 42 RBI, which fell one shy of the school record... Also posted a 2-2 record with a 3.34 ERA in 29.2 innings on the mound... Struck out 25 batters.

2005: Batted .308 while playing and starting 35 games, and was named Co-CAC Rookie of the Year... Collected 40 hits, including seven doubles and four triples... His 29 RBI was third on the team.

Personal: Michael Chase Townsend is the son of Towny and Cathy Townsend... Played baseball and basketball in high school... Conference Tournament MVP... All-conference, all-state, and all-Tidewater... Brother Sean played three years at UMW... Attended same high school as B.J. Upton... Father was a two-time 1st round draft choice.
