The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-16; The Eagles even their season mark at 4-4.
The Eagles started with a flourish, ripping 15 kills against just three errors in the first, while carrying a 25-20 win. The Bullets edged UMW in the second as both teams hit better than .300, and limited the Eagles in the third and fourth while scoring 26 kills in the final two sets against just eight errors.
Junior
Jocelyn Fang led the Eagles with 12 kills, while
Alice Holoubek and
Sarah Starling each added nine kills. Freshman
Sofie Ferrell added 20 assists, while
Naomi Decker added 18, and Ferrell and
Julia Gustafson each added two aces.
Kathleen Harbaugh posted six total blocks and
Natalie Brown added four block assists on the day. Gustafson led with 17 digs.
The Eagles will host Bridgewater College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
