The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Salisbury University on Friday at Ron Rosner to slip to 4-6 on the season. Set scores were 17-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.
The Eagles started swiftly, with 11 kills against two errors in the first, while Salisbury committed 10 errors in the first, as UMW gained a 1-0 advantage. But the Sea Gulls would commit just 13 errors the rest of the match, en route to a 3-1 win.
The Eagles were led by senior
Natalie Brown, who scored 15 kills, and freshman
Josie Calhoun, who scored five service aces.
Naomi Decker added 25 assists and
Sofie Ferrell added 17, and
Julia Gustafson posted 13 digs and Ferrell 12.
Alice Holoubek added four total blocks, and
Sarah Starling added three.
UMW will bounce back on Saturday morning, when the Eagles host UC Santa Cruz at 11:00 a.m.
