The University of Mary Washington athletic department kicks off the 2025-26 academic year on Friday, with a busy weekend of events for fall teams opening their regular seasons.
The women's soccer team will start the festivities by kicking off at home at 2:30 p.m. against neighbors down Interstate 95, Randolph-Macon, at the Battleground. UMW volleyball also starts the 2025 campaign on Friday, by visiting Scranton, Pa., to face Misericordia College at 7:00 p.m.

Eagles cross country will start the season on Saturday morning at the University of Richmond, while volleyball continues with a pair of matches in Scranton. On Sunday, women's soccer will host Penn State-Harrisburg at noon, before UMW honors former men's soccer coach Roy Gordon by naming the game field in his honor with a special ceremony at 2:00 p.m. Men's soccer will close the day and opening weekend by hosting North Carolina Wesleyan University at 3:00 p.m.
