The University of Mary Washington dropped its second Coast-to-Coast Conference matchup of the season as No. 7/9 Salisbury got the best of the No. 28 Eagles, 7-4.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead on
Ty Lowe's RBI double that scored
Jacob Christenbury, but the Sea Gulls countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. In the third, though, UMW tied it at three when Lowe drove his second RBI double of the game and then
Tommy Martinez drove in the tying-run on a fielder's choice ground ball.
The Sea Gulls added a run in the bottom half of the inning, then two more in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead before
George Rizzo's RBI ground out got the Eagles to within two, 6-4.
In the eighth, though, Salisbury added another run to push the lead back to three.
The Eagles collected 10 hits as a team as Christenbury,
Ryan Schwarz,
Bobby Ayscue, Lowe,
Eric Powell,
Noah Roots, and
Tommy Martinez all reached the hit column.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday for another C2C matchup with Christopher Newport at 2 p.m. in Newport News, Va.
