The University of Mary Washington softball team took down Oberlin, 3-2, in Game 2 of the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C.
The Eagles jumped out a 2-0 lead in the second inning when
Emma Dickson singled home a run, then scored herself on the same play on errors committed by Oberlin. Then in the third, the Eagles scored their third run of the game when
Emily Angel sac bunted to score
Hannah Steele from third to put UMW up, 3-0.
Oberlin scored a run in the fourth and seventh, but couldn't muster the tying run.
Taylor Hudson earned the win by tossing four innings of one-run ball, striking out a pair of batters, while
Cierra Foss earned her first save of the season by finishing off the final three frames.
Erica Shoop went 3-for-3 on the day, while
Hannah Steele tripled and singled.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow for Day 2 of the Triangle Classic.
