The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team had three players score in double figures as the Eagles fell to Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va., 58-52.
Leila Carter led the way with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while
Breana Valentine added 14 and
Megan Baxter had 10 of her own. Valentine, too, recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, adding a steal, and three assists on the way.
All told, UMW was 19-of-63 from the field (30.2%), which included a pair of 3-pointer's, while Lynchburg was 19-of-45 from the floor and held to a 6-of-16 mark from deep. The Hornets slightly outrebounded the Eagles, 36-35, and committed more turnovers than UMW, 18-15.
The Eagles finish off the regular season at 9-16 and are back in action in the Coast-to-Coast Conference Tournament next Thursday through Saturday at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
