The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at the University of California - Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon in the third place match of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Eagles' season closes at 11-22.
The Eagles dropped the first set, 25-17, and the second, 25-19, before capturing the third, 25-19. The Eagles dropped the fourth, 25-18, to close the match.
UMW was led by sophomore
Sarah Starling, who scored 11 kills against five errors in 27 attempts, and junior
Natalie Brown, who scored 10 kills against three errors in 28 attempts. Freshman
Olivia Fortier scored 17 assists and senior
Maura Munson added 11, while Brown and junior
Sydney Aiken each had three aces.
Brown scored three solo blocks, Aiken led with 15 digs, and Fortier added 11 digs for the Eagle defense. Brown was named to the all-tournament team.
