The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team (8-2-2) earned a solid result against a talented Dickinson (7-2-3) on Wednesday night under the lights in Fredericksburg, Va., a 0-0 draw.
The Eagles controlled possession for both halves as they racked up a 14-8 shot advantage with nine of their shots being on goal. They had plenty of chances in the first half as
Maci Landel almost started the game off fast with an early goal in the fourth minute, a shot that was saved by the Red Devils' keeper.
Twenty minutes later, the Eagles had their next best chance as Landel took another shot that was saved by the keeper once more.
The next best chance UMW had came early in the second half when
Katie Britton took a shot from the left of the box, hitting the crossbar, and narrowly missing the game's first goal in the 49th minute.
And the final best chance came in 79th minute when Landel set
Naomi Knight up on a header with her corner kick. Knight's head struck the ball towards the net, but the attempt was once against saved by the Dickinson keeper.
Despite the three chances on the corners, Dickinson had four of its own and couldn't capitalize either. Keeper
Emily Orn recorded a pair of saves in the draw.
The Eagles are back in action against another quality opponent in Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, PA. First touch on Saturday is set for 3 p.m.
