The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Rowan University Border Battle on Saturday, with the men taking 14th place, and the women finishing 19th among 35 competing schools.
The men were led by sophomore
Nicholas Smerlis, who finished in 44th place on the 8K course at 25:44.1. Sophomore
Rylan Sedlacek took 101st at 26:26.7, soph C.J. Hulleman finished 104th at 26:30.6, and senior
Luke Blair finished 114th at 26:38.0. Senior
Aidan Kimener rounded out the top five in 123rd place at 26:46.0.
On the women's side, sophomore
Lily Hoffman finished 15th overall, at 21:57.7, with sophomore
Addy Wallin taking 112th at 24:04.5. Junior
Eyaya Fletcher finished 114th at 24:05.1, senior Katherine Armstong was 161st at 24:41.2, and
Celeste Hammond took 201st at 25:23.9.
The Eagles will return to action on November 1 at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Santa Cruz, California at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
