The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finished eighth among 24 schools, and the women placed 11th among 26 at the NCAA Division III South Region Championships on Saturday in Salem, Va.
The men saw sophomore
Nicholas Smerlis finish 32nd overall, with a time of 25:53.40, and sophomore
CJ Hulleman take 40th at 26:10. Senior
Aidan Kimener placed 42nd at 22:22. senior
Luke Blair took 55th at 26:38, and junior
Morgan Lehocky finish 78th at 27:16.
Trent Nichols was 104th at 28:01, and sophomore
Everett Cimon placed 127th at 28:44.
On the women's side, sophomore
Lily Hoffman repeated as an all-region choice after finishing ninth overall at 21:57.6. Sophomore
Addy Wallin finished 62nd at 24:24.6, junior
Eyaya Fletcher finished 73rd at 25:05.0, and senior
Katherine Armstrong placed 90th at 25:28. Sophomore
Ava Wray finished 106th at 25:54, sophomore
Maddie Binkley was 112th at 26:12, and freshman
Celeste Hammond took 119th at 26:25.
Hoffman will look to advance to the NCAA Division III national championships in Spartanburg, S.C. next Saturday. The official invite list will be published on Sunday.
