The University of Mary Washington women's swimming and diving team finished the regular dual meet season a perfect 8-0 in its beatdown of Marymount, 216-42, on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va.
The Eagles got off to a fast start when
Nora McMullen,
Soleil Clifford,
Sarah Brown, and
Maddie Kryszon finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:53.61.
Two events later,
Spera Moy-Jacobs finished in first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.73), while
Ava Rice and
Ann Karr finished in second and third. In the 200-yard freestyle relay,
Ashley Dyer toof home first place (1:58.79), while Maddie Timmons finished in second place.
In the 100-yard backstroke, the Eagles swept the podium as Pheobe Root finished first (59.47) and
Nora McMullen placed second, while
Bridget Zagrobelny finished in third.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Carleigh Dillman finished first with a final time of 1:12.05, barely outtouching teammate
Juliana Bleecker, who finished .05 seconds later in second place.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Marina Klein touched first (2:16.57), while
Delaney Humphrey finished in third with a time of 2:20.23. In the 50-yard freestyle, Clifford finished first (25.15), while
Sarah Brown and Root joined Clifford on the podium with second and third place finishes.
Clifford then touched first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.52), while Dyer and Klein took second and third. McMullen (2:12.72) and Timmons finished in first and second in the 200-yard backstroke, while Zagrobelny finished 15 seconds ahead of her opponents in the 200-yard breaststroke(2:28.18).
Kaylie Curran finished in first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.54), while Karr and Humphrey finished in second and third.
Bri Wilson (58.73) touched first in the 100-yard butterfly, while
Anna Jayjack finished in second.
And in the 400-yard IM, Kryszon (4:46.56) touched first, while Moy-Jacobs and Bleecker finished in second and third. Finally, UMW capped the meet off with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Clifford, Timmons, Moy-Jacobs, and Brown finished first.
The Eagles are back in action on Feb. 13-15 in Hampton, Va. in the NJAC Championships -- UMW claimed the title a season ago in College Park, Md.
