The University of Mary Washington's women's swimming and diving program returned to the newly renovated Goolrick Nataorium on Saturday afternoon, blowing past Lynchburg, 209-53.
The Eagles started strong when
Phoebe Root,
Bridget Zagrobelny,
Bri Wilson, and
Spera Moy-Jacobs teamed up to finish in first in the 200-yard medley relay. Then,
Ashley Dyer,
April Groce, and
Bryar Laine finished on top of the podium in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Maddie Kryszon finished in first (2:00.87), while
Ava Rice took home a second place finish. Root (59.57), Maddie Timmons, and
Nora McMullen went on to sweep the podium in the 100-yard backstroke. Next,
Bridget Zagrobelny (1:07.55) and
Soleil Clifford finished first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Next, in the 200-yard butterfly, Wilson (2:09.96) finished in first, while
Delaney Humphrey and
Sarah Brown followed suit with second and third place finishes. In the 50-yard freestyle, Moy-Jacobs took home another dominant win (24.59), while
Anna Jayjack finished in third. Moy-Jacobs turned around in the 100-yard freestyle moments later with another win (53.38), while
Ann Karr finished in third place.
Root,
Kaylie Curran, and Groce swept the podium in the 200-yard backstroke with Root's winning time of 2:11.53. Zagrobelny (2:27.70) and Clifford then went on to finish first and second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Meanwhile, Dyer (5:26.36),
Carleigh Dillman, and Laine finished on the podium in the 500-yard freestyle.
Wilson (58.27), Jayjack, and
Marina Klein finished in the top three in the 100-yard butterfly, which was followed by Zagrobelny's win in the 200-yard IM (2:13.95). And in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Clifford, Moy-Jacobs, Wilson and Timmons closed out the meet with another victory.
The Eagles are back in action next Saturday against Marymount at 1 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
