Box Score 2 The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches at Swarthmore College on Saturday, topping Rutgers Newark, 3-0, before falling to the hosts, 3-2. The Eagles move to 6-5 on the season.
In the opener, the Eagles cruised to a 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Rutgers Newark. Senior
Emily Flamm led the balanced attack with seven kills, while
Claire Jenkins added six and
Lily Hussman five.
Lauren Foley and
Brenna Campbell each had four service aces, while Foley scored nine assists, and
Maura Munson six.
Sarah Starling had three total blocks, and
Sarah Moore had five digs to lead the way.
In the nightcap, the Eagles rolled to a 25-11 win in the first set, before falling, 25-22 and 26-24 in the next two sets, before claiming a comeback 26-24 win in the fourth before falling 15-13 in the fifth against Swarthmore.Â
Senior
Chloe Crosen led UMW with 16 kills, while
Libby Potter added 15. Flamm had four aces and three total blocks, and Foley scored 26 assists, while Campbell posted 18.
Sarah Moore led the way with 20 digs, while Foley added 16 and
Hannah Livermon 14.
The Eagles will return home to face Virginia Union on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
