#22 UMW Volleyball Sweeps Geneva, WIlliam Peace on Saturday

The 22nd ranked University of ary Washington volleyball team swept a pair of matches from Geneva College and William Peace College on Saturday at the Virginia Wesleyan University Invitational in Virginia Beach. With the wins, the Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

UMW opened the day with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 victory over Geneva. The Eagles were led by sophomore Libby Potter's 12 kills against four errors in 26 attempts (.308 hitting average), while Ally Fletcher added eight kills against two errors in 14 attempts (.429).Junior Brenna Campbell led the way with 19 assist, while senior Lauren Campbell posted 14, and Campbell and Hannah Livermon each scored three service aces. 

Avery Gallahue scored six kills against one error in 12 attempts (.417), and added four block assists, while freshman Jocelyn Fang recorded a team-high 16 digs. 

In the second match, the Eagles topped William Peace, by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-20. Leading the way was Fletcher, who scored nine kills against two errors in 22 attempts, with senior Chloe Crosen adding eight kills against one error in 19 attempts. Senior Sarah Moore posted seven kills, and Emily Flamm added six in a balanced attack.

Foley led with 15 assists, with Campbell posting 14, and Foley also added five digs and four service aces. Sydney Aiken and Julia Gustafson each had seven digs to lead the defense.

The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday evening at Eastern Mennonie University at 6:30 p.m.
