The University of Mary Washington women's swim team had little issues in its victory over Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, Pa. on Saturday afternoon, 195-63.
The Eagles immediately had a pair of swimmers on the podium when Maddie Kryszon won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.74) and
Ashley Dyer finished third (11:10.43). Dyer picked up her second third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, while
Spera Moy-Jacobs took the victory (1:59.51). Kryszon and Dyer also placed first and third in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the next event,
Phoebe Root won the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.52), while
Carleigh Dillman placed third at 1:02.12.
Bridget Zagrobelny, too, would go on to win the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.18), while
Ava Rice and
Juliana Bleecker finished second and third in the event.
Root took home her second first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, while
Nora McMullen placed second and Dillman finished in third. Zagrobelny then won the 200-yard breaststroke, while Bleecker finished in third.Zagrobelny and Dillman then first in first and third in the 200-yard IM.
Bri Wilson took home the next Eagle victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.75), while
Delaney Humphrey and
April Groce also finished second and third to sweep the podium. In the 200-yard butterfly, UMW swept the podium again with Wilson finishing in first (59.32), and Jayjack and Root finishing in second and third.
Soleil Clifford (24.86) and
Anna Jayjack (25.53) finished first and third in the 50-yard freestyle, while Moy-Jacobs placed second in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Eagles are back in action next Saturday against Frostburg State at 1 p.m.
