The University of Mary Washington women's swim team started the season 5-0 on Friday night with its victory over St. Mary's, 187-81, in St. Mary's City, Md.
The Eagles began the meet by taking the top two spots on the podium when
Carleigh Dillman won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:03.72), while
Kaylie Curran took second place. Then, they took all three spots in the 200-yard freestyle when
Bri Wilson won the event (1:59.38), and
Madison Kryszon placed second, while
Ashley Dyer finished in third.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Ainsley Graf finished first (1:03.38), while
Jessica Hinson placed third. In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Soleil Clifford (1:10.93) placed first, while
Juliana Bleecker finished second and Abi Higgins placed third.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Nora McMullen finished in first (2:14.02), while
Sarah Brown and
Megan Kim completed the podium sweep with a second and third place finish.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Ashlyn Diederich placed in third. Meanwhile, in the 100-yard freestyle, Wilson finished in second, while
Anna Jayjack finished in third.
In the 200-yard backstroke,
April Groce came out on top (2:17.32), while
Amber Candido and Maddie Timmons followed with second and third place finishes.
In the 200-yard breaststroke,
Bridget Zagrobelny finished in first (2:27.45), while Dyer placed second and Clifford finished in third. And in the 500-yard freestyle, Dillman won the event (5:20.68), while
Marina Klein finished in third.
Phoebe Root finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, while
Spera Moy-Jacobs finished in third. And in the 400-yard IM, Dyer won the event (4:45.21), while
Delaney Humphrey finished in third.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend (Friday-Sunday) at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
