Box Score The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in double overtime to Rhodes College on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site Collegiate Field Hockey Conference game in Sewanee, Tennessee. The Eagles slip to 9-6 on the season.
In a defensive battle that saw neither team score for three quarters, it was the Eagles who scored first, as junior
Grayson Scott caged her team-high 13th goal of the season 53 seconds into the fourth quarter. The Lynx tied the score five minutes later, and the teams would play knotted at one through the end of regular and one ten-minute overtime period. Rhodes found the game winner one minute ino the second overtime period.
The Eagles led in shots, 19-8, as well as penalty corners, 10-4. UMW sophomore goalie
Tori Winans made one save on the day.
UMW will be back in action on Sunday, when they face Sewanee in another CFHC matchup starting at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time.
