The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Christopher Newport University to kick off a four-match day at Ron Rosner Arena on Saturday, and then fell, 3-1, to Salisbury in the nightcap. The Eagles slip to 10-12 on the season.
The Eagles fell by scores of 25-19, 25-11. 25-17 to the Captains. Senior
Ally Fletcher led the Eagles with seven kills, while senior
Chloe Crosen added six and junior
Avery Gallahue five. Junior
Brenna Campbell led the Eagles with assists, with senior
Lauren Foley posting 11, and senior
Hannah Livermon scored a team-high nine digs.
In the second match, the Eagles fought close, but fell in four games, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 25-11. Crosen led the way with 10 kills, while Fletcher scored eight and
Libby Potter seven. Foley had 21 assists and Campbell 11, and Campbell also added a pair of service aces. Livermon led with 17 digs, with
Sarah Moore adding nine.
The Eagles will host a pair of matches on Sunday, as CNU will face UC Santa Cruz at 11:00 a.m., and the Banana Slugs will then play the Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
