Senior guard Da'Shawn Cook scored a game-high 21 points to lead the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 60-46 victory over Salisbury University on Saturday at Ron Rosner Arena. The Eagles close the regular season with a record of 18-7.

The game remained close in the opening 10 minutes with the Eagles holding a slim edge, until a Salisbury three point play gave them an 11-10 lead with 10:36 remaining in the half. From there, senior Greg Rowson scored four straight points and junior Zack Blue added a three pointer, and the lead grew to 17-11 with 7:05 left. Salisbury answered to draw to within one, but back-to-back three pointers from freshman Dorian Davis and Cook swelled the lead back to 25-18 with 1:41 to go. The teams traded buckets, and UMW led, 27-20, at halftime.

UMW came out strong in the second, going on a 13-2 run to open play, led by five points each from Rowson and Cook. After the teams traded three pointers, Blue hit a layup to put UMW ahead, 45-25. Eight more points from Cook pushed the lead to 59-29 with 8:48 left, and despite a rally from Salisbury, UMW held on for its 18th victory.

Cook made 8-14 shots, including 4-8 three point shots, and made a free throw en route to 21 points. Rowson scored 12 and added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Davis scored 11 on 3-8 shooting, with three 3-pointers. Zack Blue added eight points, seven assists, five steals, and five rebounds.

UMW shot 41.2% form the floor (21-51), making 10-31 three point attempts and 8-18 free throws. Salisbury shot 18-51 form the field, making 6-18 three point tries and 4-5 free throws. Salisbury led in rebounding, 37-32, but committed 16 turnovers.

The Eagles will next play in the C2C Tournament in Santa Cruz, California, which begins on Thursday.
