The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to #1 ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday at Homecoming. The Eagles slip to 8-4-4 on the season.

Much like their meeting three days ago in Newport News, defense carried the day, as the score stood at 0-0 to halftime. The Captains used a second half score in the 59th minute for the game's only goal.

Christopher Newport led in shots, 12-9, as well as corner kicks 5-2. UMW senior goalie Ally Holden made eight saves in the contest.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, when they visit Catholic University at 7:00 p.m.
